My 5 Minute DIY Tousled Hair Routine
Updated: Sep 28, 2020

I love this hairstyle because it gives you the perfect "I woke up like this" look. Easy and effortless.
Best part is it literally takes me 5 minutes tops to pull this off.
I have a medium length hairstyle right now, and I absolutely love the way this makes my hair look. If your hair is long, this might not give as much volume as it does to medium length hair. The weight might be too much, but give it a shot if you have long hair and let me know how it works out!
It's super simple and easy to follow! Here are the products I use:

Kent Hair pick - LINK HERE
Step 1 - Comb through hair front to back
Using the hair pick, comb your hair from the front of your head to the back, going backward down your part. This makes the hair start laying the way I want as well as getting the roots ready for the next step.
Step 2 - Root powder
Taking my hair in sections, I gently tap in root powder and then work through with my fingers. Note that the powder only needs to go on the roots, it doesn't need to be in the rest of your hair. It's white, so I rub it around a bit with my fingers until I can't see it anymore.
Step 3 - Comb hair front to back once more
Finish off step 2 by once again using the pick to comb back your hair.
Step 4 - Dry shampoo
Even if my hair is clean, I still use dry shampoo because of the lift it gives. I know, it might seem too much to use root powder and dry shampoo, but hey. It works.
Again taking the hair in sections, I spray it onto my roots and "fluff" my hair up with my hands.
Step 5 - Tousle spray
Best part! Lift up your hair in sections and let it fall - spray while it's falling to get the product all over. I kind of do it in one wild movement.
I also bend over and spray it in upside down as well. Gravity tends to give the hair more volume.
Step 6 - Fluff up and comb down just the center of the part.
Last step! Fluff up you hair with your hands and use the pick to go down your part. This lifts the hair once more and gives your part lots of volume.
You could also finish up with some light hold hairspray if you really wanted to.

What's your favorite "I woke up like this" hairstyle?
I love any beauty or hair routine that looks effortless. I'm always super impressed with women who look amazing and who don't look like they spent 30 minutes doing their hair that morning.
I'd love to hear your own volumizing tips in the comments!
